(Hey kids, I will have another blog up in a couple of days but for now, let me share this. I would love to just remind everyone that one of the things I do is help raise money for animal rescues. I do shows (under the ‘paws for laughter’ banner) when I can. I drive transports, whatever I can (just to sneak a furry kiss!) But now I am donating my time to do a fabulous comedy show for Stand Up For Paws. This is a show to raise funds and awareness for 3 great groups.
The following rescue groups will benefit from this event:
FernDog Rescue Foundation, Caldwell, NJ, an organization thathelps dogs at risk by providing foster homes that will nurture their physical and emotional health, help locate the ideal forever home for them while providing support and training to help assure that their stay in their new homes is permanent.
911 Dog & Cat Rescue, Morristown, NJ, is run solely by volunteers. All animals that are adopted out by the rescue originate from Animal Control as strays or surrenders. “We are not a limited admission rescue because we believe that each animal has a right to live in a loving, forever home.” Since starting this program in 2010, Morristown, NJ has had a 0% euthanasia rate for healthy animals.
PAWS, Montclair, NJ, is a rescue and sheltering organization that has been serving Montclair and the surrounding communities for 35 years. The focus is on at-risk cats and dogs, often bully breeds.Rescue and reduce are key principles in their work of finding animals good, appropriate, forever homes; preventing warehousing and/or euthanizing adoptable animals; changing public consciousness about the value of animals and our responsibilities to them and promoting spay/neuter.
It is being organized by another great group Pittie Full Events Plus . Tracey is working extremely hard to organize the best time ever!!
There will be fabulous funny comedians, music, food, fun and games.

So it’s another year! Hurray!!! Happy New Year!! From the world renowned procrastinator. I know I’m late but that’s not so unusual for me!! I was there when it happened… In the moment! Just never finished writing about it! I was whooping it up and watching the party unfold!! But, really, I’m not sure what I think so far. Of course I am praying for a healthy happy new year for everybody, and I’m a big believer in what will be, will be. But lots of stuff is happening in the New Year. I will try to be positive about it all but it can be so depressing. I’m sure there are others going through the same thing. So ya gotta say to yourself… what lesson am I learning today?
I know in my heart, this is going to be the best year yet. We will move forward and accomplish every goal we have!! That is what I want to believe, so that is what I am seeing!! But I know some of you don’t work that way, so let me share this and then I want you too to see your future with intent. Make it happen. Be a believer. This is not religious, this is the power of positive thinking!!! You know… build it and they will come??? Well, see it and it will happen! Here is how the new year started for me.
As you might know, I do comedy on cruise ships and planned on taking my hubby with me to celebrate the New Year. Bought his ticket to fly, had his reservation on the ship, but it wasn’t to be. My hubby got bumped so I worked on a cruise ship without him and we spent New Year’s apart. Was it awful? No, I made money, he took over time since he was stuck home and he made money. It was really ok, cause it ended up a good thing. That’s how we looked at it. Were we apart? Yes. Did we lose money? Yes, Did we make other money? Yes. So many new beginnings and so much hopefulness goes on, but it can also bring some sadness. That’s Life as a great old song says. As of new years eve we lost a friend, another is in the hospital, another is terminal, there have been crummy things, not things to celebrate…but so many things happen at the same time… a baby was born…healthy and happy, someone got a promotion, a dog I helped rescue is now back with his original owner after a couple of hard years…all wonderful things worthy of great celebration…..beginnings and endings. How to deal, what to think.
Like another wonderful old song says, que serra serra, what will be will be. Is there a destiny, is it fate, is it preordained? I don’t want to get heavy… (or fat) …or phat…well, maybe phat, that’s good right? LOL. I just want to tell everyone that as important as all the things are that happen to you, the most important thing is how you handle them. How you let the good or bad become or overcome you. How you let the stress or happiness affect you. You can choose to hold in your emotions, or scream and shout, and let it all out. You can be happy or sad, angry or ecstatic. Of course the good stuff is usually pretty easy. Everyone loves good news. Unexpected money! A new baby or a new job! All that great stuff that happens. Enjoy it, embrace it, and celebrate it!! And don’t feel guilty about it. Lots of people feel like they don’t deserve something, or they’re sad that others don’t have what they have.
Some feel so guilty, they can’t enjoy their special moment! That’s not good either. If you can share your joy, whether it’s something of substance that you can physically share, or something not tangible but just wonderful news that can be shared and celebrated with others. It will make you feel good! So do it, love it, and talk about it. Most of your friends will be so happy for you, and happy to share your happiness, there will be happy happy joy joy in the air!!(Ren and Stimpy fans?LOL)
And if it’s bad news or horrible things that have happened. Share that too. Everyone has someone that will share their burden, listen to their woes, offer support, lend an ear, give good advise. Don’t fall into a depression and stifle all those negative feelings. Don’t drown your sorrows, don’t wallow in despair and loneliness. There are things you can do about some things to change them for the better, and some things that just are what they are. And unfortunately, you just have to deal with them, but you can do it in a healthy way.
That is when you take care of you. Get a massage, acupressure, acupuncture, pick a modality that works for you. Something that will release your pain, your anguish, help express your emotions, or just physically get rid of those aches and pains that sometimes come with holding on to such negativity. Holding on to these emotional things can actually make you physically ill. Unfortunately, we have to do something to stay strong, to get through it, to be whole again. Try and think positively. Try and find the good side to the bad thing. Hold on to the memories of the best part of what you had, be it a person, a thing or whatever.
Get therapy. Sometimes it takes a professional to show you how to look at these things, how to handle them, how to shed them, or embrace them. You’ll be glad you did, and then you can move on and start to really enjoy the Happy New Year that you deserve and that is waiting for you!
OK, Enough of that. Back to the happy. I just want to put a little video up so you can watch some people embracing the hell out of their new year happy happy joy joy moment!!
Be well, Do good, Live life!!! Love yourself and everyone else. It feels spectacular!!
Okay, so we all love animals, we have read many stories about them, we have done things to our pets that we are sorry for or feel guilty for. ( And no I’m not talking about harming them, if you purposely abuse your pet, I shun you! I berate you! I can’t even go there right now) I don’t want to write about those horrors in this blog although they do exist and need addressing for sure.
Today, I am talking about the things we do that embarrass the animal… dress them up in doll clothes, make them dance with tutus on, walk in a circle with a hotdog on their nose… You know they know it’s embarrassing.
My poor little boom had weak back legs, so I got her a wheel cart. And even though it was for her own good, (and she ended up loving it because she could go for longer walks), she still was extremely ashamed whenever she had to use it. In fact when she passed on, and my other guy, Bing, got so old, I tried to get him to use it and I never saw a dog look like he wanted to scream “Are you f@#$ing kidding me? Get me out of this. I am so mortified!”
Believe me if they could only talk! They try, they give us the look. You know the one….They speak volumes and I don’t care what anyone says, they have an innate sense of what is going on at all times.
You’ve seen these people that carry their dogs around in a bag, or push them in a baby stroller, Really?? Sorry, to me they are not just pets, they are like people, and who wants to be carried in a bag if they have the strength to run and jump and want to be free and playing and doing? (I know there are times when a puppy is too young to be on the ground in a public place, or a dog is injured) but I’m talking about a healthy happy, let me jump and run animal. Anyway, that is off point.
I’m just bringing it all up because I found the ultimate insult to injury of using an animal when they have no say so in it at all. I found this article and it came with pictures I gotta tell ya, it made me so mad, but when I realized the cat would be fine, it did make me laugh at the absurdity of it, the audacity of the person who did it, and that fact that the cat could not tell anyone, who did it, where they did it or why or for whom they did it. Please Read below before I continue…
(detained? Ouch, ease up Mr. Guard!!) Prison guards were surprised when they saw a white cat crossing the main gate of the prison, its body wrapped with tape. A closer look showed the feline also carried drills, an earphone, a memory card, batteries and a phone charger.
All 263 detainees in the prison of Arapiraca, a city of 215,000 people in the state of Alagoas, are considered suspect in the plot, which is being investigated by local police.
“It’s tough to find out who’s responsible for the action as the cat doesn’t speak,” a prison spokesperson told local paper Estado de S.Paulo.
The cat was taken to an animal disease center to receive medical care.
The incident took place on New Year’s day Jan 1, 2013 but was first reported by national media on Saturday.
The cat doesn’t speak? Really? Cause I’m sure if he did he would have made an appointment for his visitation rights. I mean everyone has a right to see their loved ones in prison.
Of course if he did speak, he would never have given up his partner in crime, I’m sure. Loved ones don’t rat….rat? did I see a rat? I can’t believe he was still on his way in and never veered from his goal!
I think he had Stockholm syndrome. So you can’t blame the cat, someone fed him, and fed him a line of bull…”Really, Bob needs these, he’s innocent, we have to help him, no one will get hurt, just purr and keep on walking, you can do it!”
And if he did speak, and how funny is it that they had to write…” the cat doesn’t speak” Do most cats speak? Did they think he was just faking it to cover up the crime? If he could speak, don’t ya think he might have said, “Get this crap off me! It’s heavy, it’s digging into me, and it is humiliating!”
And detained? Detained for questioning? Really? What did he have to say? Did he mime what was going on? And really, you only have 215,000 suspects? You better call CSI immediately!
So bottom line, don’t involve your pets or people in your prison escape. CRIME DOESN’T PAY! And your pets deserve better! At least give them a mask so no one sees their faces! Yikes, how embarrassing! LOL… Go kiss your pets right now.
Well here I am at the beginning of the Santa Rosa Wall striking my best Game Show Pose (Alla Vanna White from Wheel of Fortune or the Lovely Carrol Merril from the OLD Lets make a deal…who’s old???? [boy am I dating myself]).
It’s off the ship when we dock in Cozumel and right into the water!!! I tried to dive on the Carnival Cruise Ships but I always bottomed out in the pool on the Lido deck and people started to complain so I’ll stick to Ocean Dives for now LOL.
